What's not to love about this small beachy town? There is something about the beach in Mangawhai that is so peaceful and I often found myself so amazed by its beauty. In my time living here, I was continually surprised by how many beautiful walking tracks and lookouts I found!
The Mangawhai Estuary is perfect for a relaxed seaside picnic, a scenic walk, or a refreshing swim. I have had countless afternoon walks here and have found so many beautiful spots. No matter what mood I am in, I feel so at peace after being here.
Things to do:
Mangawhai Heads Surf Beach
This is still one of the most beautiful beaches I have ever been too. I have always loved this beach so much! I thought when we moved here the novelty would wear off after awhile. But still every single time I come here I think WOW! It's impossible not to feel happy after spending time here.
Things to do:
The Heads Beach Look Out - One
This lookout is only a short 5-10 minute walk, located on the right of the car park! This spot is seriously so peaceful, especially at sunset!
The Heads Beach Look Out - Two
This is one of my all time favourite spots in Mangawhai! Look for a sign to the left of the big white rock. It's about a steep 10 minute walk to the top, finishing with the most incredible view of all of Mangawhai!
This track leads on from the look out above. When you get to the top turn left and the track leads down a hill with a beautiful view of the estuary! At the end of this track, you can cross the road and make your way up the next hill which gives you a beautiful view of the estuary and heads beach from a completely different perspective!
The Golf Club Look Out & Mangawhai Forest
This lookout is located behind the information centre by the Mangawhai Golf Course. Behind this lookout is the amazing Mangawhai Forest (which can also be accessed from MAZ - Mangawahi Activity Zone). I only discovered this forest after about five months of living here! It's really cool because there are about five different paths that you can take through the forest!
Mangawhai Coastal Walkway
The start of this walkway is 45 minutes down the heads beach, the track from the beach takes about 2 hours return. The whole track is just SO beautiful. You almost want to stop every second to take photos! At the end of the track you get to an amazing rocky beach.
